About this Site
Accessibility of web pages
The University of Cambridge is committed to making accessible for all users information and resources that are available via the web. We favour the principles of usability and universal design, which will be of benefit of all users. By following these principles and incorporating techniques to ensure information and resources are accessible with assistive technologies, separate resources for disabled users should not be required.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the accessibility of this site, or if you come across a page or resource that does not meet your access needs, please contact webmaster@cam.ac.uk and let us know, ensuring you quote the urls of the pages concerned. All pages on the web server aim to
- incorporate good navigation at three or four levels:
- global navigation so that from any page you can search, access the a-z and get to the home page
- a breadcrumb trail navigation so you can access the levels above where you are
- left hand navigation to guide you through the current section of content
- right hand quicklinks to guide you to other related content
- incorporate a limited set of access keys - see below
- be valid at the level of xhtml strict 1.0
- attain suitable levels of WAI compliance
- use structured semantic mark up

Access keys
Access keys and skiplink are available on the templates that are available across the site.
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key (in Internet Explorer you need to then press Enter); on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. The access keys used are as follows:
- Access key 1 - Home page.
- Access key 2 - Skip to content.
- Access key 4 - Search page.
- Access key 0 - Help (this page).
Skiplink
There is a link at the top of the new template which is hidden from graphical browsers, but which will be spoken or available via Lynx. It links directly to the start of the page content, after the navigation, so that users have direct access.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated. For feedback or other comments, or reports of difficulties you encounter with accessing information on the web site, please email webmaster@hki.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk.
