How to Find Us
The Hamilton Kerr Institute is situated in the several acres of attractive grounds of a converted 19th century mill building. We are approximately 7 miles south of Cambridge city centre. Our location is marked on the University map. Please note that we are only able to see visitors by prior appointment.

The nearest rail station is in Whittlesford, on the line from London Liverpool Street to Cambridge. The train station is a 15 minute walk to the Institute. From Whittlesford station turn left, up the hill. At the end of the road turn right again going uphill. Mill Lane is the next road on your right, (signposted to the Public Weighstation) the Institute is at the end of this lane. Google Maps directions
A bus service, the CITI7, runs approximately half hourly (from Cotenham — Cambridge — Sawston — Duxford — Whittlesford). From Cambridge rail station the journey takes approximately 1 hour. An online timetable is available as a PDF file from Cambridge City council. The bus stop is next to the Whittlesford memorial which is at the junction of the Duxford Road and Mill Lane. Walk down the lane (with the village green to your left) and you will find the Institute at the end of the lane, at a distance of approximately 200yards. Google Maps directions.
The village is close to the M11 motorway (Junction 10) at the Junction with the A505. Follow the Google Maps link and enter your start address in order to get directions.
Access for wheelchairs
The front entrance to the Institute has steps, the steps are fewer and lower at the main entrance (to the right side of the building as seen from our gravel car park). Intercom units are located at each entrance and a ramp is available for the main entrance. There are a few low steps on the ground floor of the Institute and only staricase access to the first floor.
