Scientific, Art Historical and technical research is undertaken to inform the conservation process. Much research at the Hamilton Kerr involves the practical investigation of historic painting techniques. Below is a limited selection of more recent case studies based around this theme. It is hoped that these case studies show how our wide scope of research have informed the treatments and also helped to highlight the high level of artistry and craftsmanship in the artworks.
